How does a booking work? (for tenants)

Updated on 04/20/2026

Have you spotted a listing you like on Roomlala and are wondering how to book it? Don't worry, we'll guide you through each step, from initial contact with the host to your arrival at the property.

1. Find the right accommodation for you

Start by searching on Roomlala, indicating your destination and dates. Take the time to browse several listings: description, photos, amenities, rental conditions, and reviews left by previous tenants. The more informed your choice, the more smoothly your stay will go.

2. Send a request to the host

On the listing page, click on the "Contact [owner's first name]" button. You will then access an "Information Request" form where you specify:

  • Your arrival and departure dates
  • The number of tenants
  • An introductory message for the host

Make your message clear: briefly introduce yourself, explain the reason for your stay, and ask any questions you may have. A clear and warm message significantly increases your chances of getting a positive response.

3. Communicate with the host

Your request is sent to the host, who can respond to you, ask you questions, pre-approve your request, or decline it. You receive an email notification for each response, and you can track all your conversations in the My Bookings section of your account.

As long as you haven't paid, you are not committed to anything: this is purely an exchange step to get acquainted and confirm that the accommodation suits you.

4. Confirm the booking by paying

Depending on the listing, two scenarios are possible:

  • The host has pre-approved your request: you are invited to pay to confirm the booking.
  • The listing is available for instant booking: you can pay directly without waiting for the host's approval.

Payment is made securely online by credit card. The amount depends on the type of rental:

  • For a short-term stay: the entire stay is paid at the time of booking.
  • For a long-term rental: you pay the first month and, if applicable, the security deposit. Subsequent months are paid according to the established payment schedule.

Roomlala service fees are added at the time of payment and are clearly displayed in the summary before confirmation.

5. Receive confirmation of your stay

Once payment is made and the host has confirmed, your booking is validated. You receive a summary email with all useful information: dates, accommodation address, and host contact details.

We recommend that you communicate with your host again a few days before your arrival to agree on the time and practical arrangements (key handover, access code, etc.).

6. Arrival and inventory check

On the day of arrival, go to the property at the agreed time with the host. Take the time to tour the accommodation together and report any problems immediately. An entry inventory check can be completed directly from your Roomlala space and electronically signed by both parties. An exit inventory check will be carried out in the same way at the end of your stay.

7. After your stay: leave a review

At the end of your stay, you are invited to leave a review of your host and the accommodation. Take a moment to do so: your feedback helps future tenants make their choice and allows hosts to improve their hospitality.
