How to avoid scams on Roomlala?
Updated on 11/18/2025
Stay alert to scams
Roomlala does everything possible to limit fraudulent listings.
Despite this, it is important to remain vigilant during your searches and bookings.
Good habits to adopt
- 🚫 Be wary of a host who claims to live or be traveling abroad and asks you for a deposit to “hold” the rental.
- 📧 Always check the email address if you communicate outside of Roomlala messaging. Scammers sometimes use fake addresses resembling our brand.
- 💸 Decline requests for money transfers via “money order”, Moneygram, or Western Union.
- 💳 Never pay outside the website. Roomlala's secure payment is the only one that protects you in case of fraud or an unpleasant surprise.
- 🏡 Do not advance a security deposit before your arrival. Only give it on the day of your arrival, in exchange for the keys.
Other useful tips
- Always compare the price of the accommodation with other similar listings.
- Ask the host questions via the contact form, then Roomlala's messaging system.
- Pay attention to descriptions with many errors or “too perfect” photos.
- Consult the reviews left by other users, if available.
- Check if the host has verified their identity and phone number.
⚠️ In case of a problem
If you have an unpleasant surprise upon arrival, you can declare a dispute from your Roomlala messaging, until 1 PM the next day.
