Rental agreement
Updated on 01/20/2026
Wondering which rental agreement to use and how to access it? Don't panic, we'll explain everything.
Why sign a rental agreement?
Signing a rental agreement is highly recommended, regardless of the length of the stay: short, medium, or long-term. This document and its clauses protect you in the event of a dispute.
Using a platform like Roomlala does not exempt you from creating one. Even if you receive a booking confirmation email from Roomlala, we recommend that you also sign an agreement and attach any additional documents required in your country.
The templates offered by Roomlala
Depending on your country and the duration of the rental, Roomlala may provide you with a free rental agreement template to help you. The type of agreement offered depends primarily on the type of accommodation (furnished or not) and the length of the rental.
These templates are provided for information purposes only. They are not binding on Roomlala and do not necessarily cover all situations. Applicable rules vary from one country to another, and local specificities (notice periods, mandatory disclosures, supporting documents, caps, etc.) may exist that differ from those in the template.
This is why it is your responsibility to verify that the agreement you are signing complies with the legislation in force where the accommodation is located. In case of doubt, consult a legal professional. The Roomlala template is a starting point, not a guarantee of legal validity.
Is it mandatory to validate the agreement on Roomlala?
No. Using the agreement offered on Roomlala is not mandatory. You are free to sign another agreement, outside of the platform, that is better suited to your situation or your country.
The host can certainly propose their own template if they wish, or one that complies with local customs. The essential thing is that both parties are in agreement and that the contract respects the applicable law.
How do I access agreements on Roomlala?
From your personal space, open your messages and then select the relevant booking. In the conversation, the Agreement section appears on the side of the page: this is where you can view the corresponding agreement.
How does it work?
The final agreement is only available after the booking is confirmed, that is to say once the payment has been made and the rental has been accepted by the host.
It is then up to the host to initiate the signing of the agreement. The tenant cannot sign until the host has done so.
If the tenant leaves the accommodation earlier than expected
The agreement template offered by Roomlala does not provide for a notice period in the event of the tenant's early departure. However, notice period rules vary depending on the country and the type of rental.
In France, for example, the legal notice period for a furnished rental is one month, starting from the day the tenant announces their departure. If you wish to include a notice clause, you can have a different agreement signed than the one from Roomlala, which provides for it.
If no agreement was signed upon the tenant's arrival, you cannot demand a notice period in the event of an early departure: the tenant may leave the accommodation without notifying you in advance.
